Vision Statement
To lead Syracuse into a future where families thrive, neighborhoods flourish, and accessible opportunities abound.

SYRACUSE IS HOME. Chol Majok is dedicated to restoring stability for families, creating a city where residents can build better lives for themselves and their children. Syracuse needs new beginnings—accessible workforce opportunities, a reliable transportation system, safer neighborhoods, and a forward-thinking city that prioritizes people and bikes over cars.
HOUSING is at a crisis point in Syracuse. With a shrinking tax base and a deteriorating housing supply, we must act now to ensure affordable, quality homes for all. Chol’s leadership will focus on rebuilding our housing infrastructure through collaboration and innovative public-private partnerships, making Syracuse a city where families can truly thrive.

NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY remains a top concern as crime threatens families and community stability. Chol’s vision includes 21st-century policing that combines modern technology with a rehabilitative approach to build a safer, more sustainable city.

ECONOMIC INSECURITY is another challenge. Wages don’t keep up with the rising cost of living, forcing too many families into poverty and homelessness. Chol believes in creating accessible jobs with fair wages, helping families move from survival to success. By skilling, upskilling, and reskilling workers, and supporting small businesses, Chol will drive economic growth. Under his leadership, Syracuse will become a green-jobs-focused city with stronger food security measures and a climate-conscious future.

As a legislator, Chol has always been a fierce advocate for under-represented communities. His leadership is shaped by a deep understanding of the struggles ordinary people face and a relentless commitment to equity, fairness, and justice.

Chol Majok was elected to the Syracuse Common Council in 2019. He is a proud resident of the Elmwood neighborhood on the South Side, a husband, father, immigrant, SCSD graduate, doctorate holder, legislator, and talent development professional. His experience in legislative, executive, non-profit, and manufacturing roles has prepared him to guide Syracuse into a stronger, more sustainable future.

Syracuse is Home, and under Chol’s leadership, the city will thrive with new beginnings for families, neighborhoods, and opportunities.
